An app for academic resources.

ROLE: UX Designer

and Researcher

SKILLS: Figma, Mural

Adobe Illustrator, Miro

TEAM: Me

DURATION: 3 Months

OBJECTIVE

The mobile application my team chose is, 'D2L'. The app's purpose is to organize & present academic resources for the target audience and display ease of use. Our prototype is based on four main functions such as: Login Process, Resources, Translate, Messenger. We had conducted individual user interviews and testing to document our data. Our team's goal was to find and evaluate functionality issues in order to create a visually consistent, cohesive, and user-friendly app.

Research

D2L, Affinity Diagram, Jj_edited.jpg

For our affinity diagram, we had different sections and put notes in each category. We have categories that display collected data from first-generation & immigrant student populations to address common academic resource success needs to be met. Common needs of the user are rendered into our team's design of our selected app. The notes that have the same colored tag at the bottom right relate to each other in some way, to help us find similarities across the clusters.

D2L, Personas, Jj.png

These personas and scenarios enable us to visualize and understand who our potential users are to state their behaviors, experiences, and goals. Understanding who our users are will allow us to move forward in creating improvements for our selected app by ensuring a positive and aesthetic appeal to our target audience for more efficiency throughout the design flow.

D2L Insights Graph, Jj.png

This quantitive data chart analyzes students' percentages for each of their shared challenges. The quantitative chart helps to visualize individuals' needs based upon guidance searched for whilst they navigate through college academic tasks.

Our prototype is for the student populations: first-generation and immigrant college students so that they may better navigate through with their academic needs.

Evaluation

Our mobile application is created to help our student-populations via AI assistant, with a quick and efficient way of resolving their academic-success/social needs. The layout of our app is simplistic and well organized. Next steps would be to further improve on functionality throughout the app from feedback.
